The Whole Truth About Whole Grains

On Wednesday, February 8, the Center for Science in the Public Interest petitioned the Food and Drug Administration to stop letting manufacturers label their foods “Whole Grain” when they really aren’t and to start putting the percentage of whole grain on the packaging. The government has encouraged Americans to eat more whole grains because they help prevent heart disease, but the FDA has never established a legal definition of what constitutes a whole grain. Integrative Nutrition Rocked the Ripple Effect!

Andrew WeilHundreds of students and graduates rocked it out this past weekend at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City for Rock the Ripple Effect! During this fantastic one-day conference, we heard from several inspiring speakers and discussed how the Integrative Nutrition community is helping others transform their lives. Many conference attendees connected and made new friends, while others picked up great tips for their business and felt a new sense of empowerment!

Andrew Weil, MD, the Founder and Director of the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, gave the keynote address. Dr. Weil is a best-selling author and a world-renowned expert on mind-body interactions and healing systems. He spoke about the dangers of fructose, his anti-inflammatory pyramid, and demonstrated a breathing exercise to help manage stress.


Food Day: Are you Cook-in' for a Cause?

Integrative Nutrition Celebrates Food Day Food Day is just around the corner on Monday October 24th and it seems that the whole country is excited. Just take one glance at the Food Day website and you will see hundreds of events scheduled to take place from Washington to Maine. Just as Michael Jacobson had hoped when he founded Food Day last year, people are joining together to push for and celebrate healthy, affordable food that’s produced in a sustainable and humane way. Even Slow Foods is participating by encouraging people to take part in their second $5 dollar challenge on October 24th.
